C.O.P.S. entry date: Aug 14, 2000

C.O.P.S. original airdates: Oct 5, 1988-Sept 1989 in syndication and on WGN later airdates: Mar 27, 1993-Sept 4, 1993 (as CyberC.O.P.S.) on CBS episodes: 65 animated by: DiC distributed and owned by: The Program Exchange and Kenner Toys (now owned by Hasbro) C.O.P.S. SUMMARY: C.O.P.S., the Central Organization of Police Specialists, fights crime in a future time! Led by Bulletproof, the C.O.P.S. use their futuristic crime fighting equipment to catch Big Boss' gang and protect the innocent. C.O.P.S. FACTS: Bulletproof was the first African-American lead in an animated action series and toyline. Bulletproof is the only cop to appear in every episode. Dr. Badvibes can apparently talk robot, as he carries on conversations with his mechanical sidekick, Buzzbomb. When Dr. Badvibes comes up with a great idea, his brain starts to shoot electricity and he exclaims, "I've got a brainstorm!" Mace, a cop, and Nightshade, a crook, have a secret romantic relationship. Berserko is Big Boss' nephew, and that is why he puts up with his stupidity! The show takes place in 2020, but their are very large computers and phones with cords! Empire City is based on New York and even features the Empire State Building in some episodes. All the female characters, Mainframe, Mirage, Ms. Demeanor and Nightshade never had action figures made. DC Comics published a C.O.P.S. comic book, which lasted 15 issues. The final issue's cover pays homage to the cover of Justice League (1987 series) #1. The show was re-aired on CBS in 1993 as "CyberC.O.P.S." to distinguish it from FOX's "Cops", reality show.
